The surface of the iron shell oil seal is usually treated as follows:
STEP1:Pretreatment

Degreasing treatment:

There may be impurities such as oil and grease on the surface of the iron shell, which will affect the subsequent treatment effect and the performance of the oil seal. The surface oil is removed by using a degreasing liquid. Common degreasing methods include immersion degreasing and spray degreasing.
Rust removal treatment:
If there is rust on the surface of the iron shell, rust removal treatment is required. Chemical rust removers or physical methods such as sandblasting and shot blasting can be used to remove rust and make the surface clean.
Surface roughening:
Increasing the surface roughness by sandblasting, grinding or chemical corrosion can improve the adhesion of subsequent coatings or rubber to the iron shell, and enhance the wear resistance of the oil seal.
STEP2:Anti-rust and adhesion enhancement treatment

Phosphating treatment:

Put the iron shell into the phosphating solution to form a phosphate chemical conversion film on the surface of the iron shell, which can improve the anti-rust ability of the iron shell and increase the adhesion with rubber and other sealing materials.

Vulcanization treatment:

Adding sulfide liquid for treatment can further increase the activity of the iron shell surface, improve the adhesion with rubber, make the rubber and iron shell better combined, and enhance the overall performance of the oil seal

STEP3:Coating treatment

Painting or spraying plastic coating: Applying paint or plastic coating on the surface of the iron shell, such as epoxy resin paint, polytetrafluoroethylene coating, etc., can improve the corrosion resistance, wear resistance and aesthetics of the iron shell, and can also play a certain insulation role.

Coating adhesive: Apply a specific adhesive evenly on the surface of the iron shell, and then dry it, so that the iron shell can be firmly bonded with the subsequent coating materials such as rubber or resin.

STEP4:Hardening treatment

Surface quenching: including flame quenching and induction quenching. Flame quenching is to use high-temperature flame to quickly heat the surface of the iron shell, and then spray water or use other cooling media to quickly cool it, so that the surface obtains martensite structure to achieve the purpose of hardening. Induction quenching is to put the iron shell into the inductor, pass alternating current, use the skin effect to quickly heat the surface to the quenching temperature and then quickly cool it, so as to improve the surface hardness and wear resistance.

Nitriding treatment: Nitrogen atoms penetrate into the metal surface of the iron shell to form a nitrogen-rich hardened layer. It can be carried out at a lower temperature. For example, gas nitriding is in an ammonia atmosphere. The active nitrogen atoms decomposed by ammonia penetrate into the surface of the iron shell, which can improve the surface hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
